I talk a lot about happiness on my facebook page. And after a discussion on Facebook the other day with a close friend, I feel the need to clarify a few things.
I do believe we are meant to be happy, but I don’t think that means we won’t have trials and tough experiences in this lifetime.
I have had trials. I have battled SEVERE depression for the majority of my life. I first had suicidal thoughts when I was in 6th grade and I landed myself in a mental hospital in 2004. Three years ago I had a miscarriage when I was 12 weeks along. Two years ago we lost our home, our cars, our savings account, EVERYTHING. My husband and I filed bankruptcy 2 years ago and we had to start all over. We have faced lawsuit after lawsuit because of bad business ventures. Often forcing us to live off food storage in order to pay the lawyer fees.
I have felt at times that my life was one big fat trial. One after another. And I haven’t always been happy through those trials…. In fact I spent the MAJORITY of my life completely miserable!
But guess what I learned through all that?
God was preparing me to succeed.
God was preparing me to INSPIRE others. I went through those trials to prove to others that if you JUST KEEP MOVING FORWARD – you’ll be okay. I know I am sharing personal stuff here, but I have come to realize I went through those trials to benefit others. And it won’t benefit anybody if I don’t share my story.
If you are struggling, please don’t ever give up. I almost did. But I’m SO grateful now that I endured.
Remember, everyone has a story. But when you think of the people who motivate others, the people who inspire others to greatness- you think of those who had struggles. Those who had a great trial to overcome. THOSE are the GREAT stories that people love to hear about.
If you are facing big fat trials, one after another – BE EXCITED! That just means that you will be able to INSPIRE others someday. And I can promise you there is nothing that feels as good as INSPIRING others and helping other people recognize their true potential and divine nature.
Life is truly beautiful. Our heartbreaks are beautiful. There is a reason for everything. I promise. Don’t let your trials conquer you. Hold on and know that someday, somehow, YOU will be able to inspire someone because of the things you have conquered.
