A peak into my husband's WHY.


This was written by my husband Jayson Linford.  I thought it was too good not to post.“I have never met my mom’s dad. I’ve been told that he was a GREAT man, he was a football coach and very well respected in his community. And from the stories I’ve heard, I think we would have gotten along quite well. But I have never had the opportunity to meet him. The reason being he died when my mom was just 6 years old. My grandpa was 45 years old when he passed away, leaving behind his wife to take care of their 10 children, yes TEN kids, the youngest being 2 years old.

What’s surprising about it all is that my grandpa seemed on the surface to be a very healthy guy. He was not overweight, in fact he was very active and seemed on the surface to be FINE. There were no warning signs, no indicators that something was wrong. But ultimately my grandpa died from something called Arteriosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries. It occurs when fat and cholesterol builds up in the walls of arteries and form plaques. Over time, these plaques can block the arteries and cause problems throughout the body. This is a common cause of heart attack and stroke. And that’s what happened to my grandpa.

This is one of the MAIN reasons I have chosen to change my lifestyle. I have seen how my grandpa’s death has affected an entire LEGACY and I don’t want to repeat history! It completed changed my mom’s childhood to grow up without a dad. And it molded my life as well. I have always been active and I felt I looked fine. I played collegiate sports and kept up with my somewhat active lifestyle, but I never payed much attention to what I would eat. Finally I realized it’s not about ME and what I WANT. It doesn’t matter how much I love pizza and soda and Chick-Fil-A waffle fries. I love my family, my wife and my three little kids MORE than all those things. I don’t want to put myself at risk with this hereditary disease, ESPECIALLY since there IS something I can do to reduce the risks of this happening to me. I can’t imagine leaving behind all those that I love because I neglected to take care of myself.

That’s why I use Shakeology and do P90X. And I have lost over 50 pounds the past 9 months. But for me, it’s not about losing weight, benching a certain number at the gym, or looking a certain way. I want to be HEALTHY so I can live. I NEED to be healthy. For me AND for my family. And now it’s time to focus on my cholesterol levels and blood pressure and bring those numbers down in a healthy and natural way. So I’m starting the Ultimate Reset this next week. The Reset is not a starvation diet or extreme cleanse, this will help restore my body to the way it’s designed to function. I wish there had been something like this when my grandpa was around. Maybe it could have saved his life. But I can’t dwell on the past. All I can do is learn from it.
