Let's talk about #hashimotos, #adrenalfatigue, and intense workouts. 🙇🏼♀️I've had several fellow autoimmune warriors reach out asking if I'm still doing intense workouts cuz they have heard/seen that they shouldn't be lifting weights or working out hard if they are dealing with an autoimmune disease or have adrenal fatigue.
Here's the deal---> LISTEN TO YOUR BODY! 👂🏼 Forget what you hear about how things "should" be. I know it's common advice to take it easy & I'm no doctor here. But I just want to encourage you to listen to YOUR body cuz there's no "one size fits all" when it comes to autoimmune diseases! It's such a spectrum and everybody's body is different, so what you hear is working for someone else won't necessary be the solution for you.
Personally, I've never completed an intense workout and felt DRAINED afterwards or extremely tired post workout. So yes, I lift weights! I do intense workouts cuz it feels GOOD to me to work my body hard and push myself! 🏋🏼♀️ BUT -- if I was lifting weights and felt like I needed to take a nap afterwards I wouldn't, I would focus more on taking walks & doing gentle yoga if that was the case.
My advice is to be self aware. Listen to your body. Pay attention to how you FEEL after your workouts. And be willing to experiment.
You'll find your groove, I promise!
