I SEW | CTR TOWEL PROJECT

Little known fact about me......

I sew.

Another little known fact.... In fourth grade my new school clothes were clothes I made. Think lots of polka dots and fabric belts. Lol.

I first learned how to make clothes, then I learned how to quilt. Then as a mom I figured out how to make little stuffed animals and baby car seat covers.

In fact, when we were struggling financially and going without an income I was trying to think of ways I could help out. Jayson and I talked about me going back to waitressing {the only "job" I ever had...} but when we looked at daycare for Mack & Andi we figured I would take home 2 dollars an hour.

😲

Not worth it.

So I taught piano lessons instead and started making a bunch of baby burp clothes, sock monkeys, car seat covers, and other random baby items.... I was getting ready for an Etsy shop! I never officially launched the shop though, I just sold a few things on Craigslist and to friends and neighbors. I still have a stash of stuff though!

Kind of crazy to think back how much time I spent sewing. Now.... not so much. In fact tonight was the first time I have pulled out my sewing machine since moving to Arizona!

But I just made these baptism towels tonight. They say CTR, which stands for Choose The Right. It's a phrase used a lot in Mormon culture. My church calling is as an Activity Day leader for the 8 & 9 year olds. So I made these for two girls turning 8 this year that will be joining my group!

It was a simple project, but I'm really happy with how they turned out!

I'm glad I learned how to sew as a kid.

I hope the girls like them!!
